What's new
Changes to Quiz the Map, newest first. Smaller fixes are not listed.
19 October 2026 – Guides, country pages and comparisons
- Guides. Ten written guides: flags that look alike, memory tricks for European capitals, the hardest countries to find, a 30-day plan for all 197 countries, US states by region, Africa by region, how spaced repetition works, a guide for teachers, and the physical map (oceans, rivers, mountains). See Guides.
- Country pages rewritten. Every one of the 197 country pages now explains where the country is, how to find it on the map, its flag, five facts, the mistakes players make and which quizzes to practise with.
- Countries people mix up. New comparison pages – Slovakia vs Slovenia, Niger vs Nigeria, Australia vs New Zealand and 27 more – with facts side by side and how to tell them apart.
- Quiz pages. Each of the main quizzes now has a "What's on this map" section, the places people miss most, and how to learn that quiz.
- FAQ. A questions and answers page about scoring, the Mistake Bank, live games, classes, printables and your data.
- Data fixes. Ten wrong capitals corrected in the sub-national quizzes (for example Liaoning → Shenyang, Paraná → Curitiba, Eastern Cape → Bhisho, Skåne → Malmö).
